Lush Desserts has recently had the honour of being nominated as a finalist in the 6th Annual Food Challenge Awards competition run by Food Magazine Australia from Reed Publications.
Over 350 people attended the awards night on the 22nd of July at Doltone House Receptions at Jones Bay Wharf in Sydney. Guests enjoyed the stunning views of Sydney’s Harbour Bridge and Darling Harbour as they celebrated and rewarded the excellence in Australia’s Food and Drink Industries.
The calibre of the finalists was outstanding, being there and meeting these true icons of Australian Food Manufacturing was an exhilarating experience and one I will remember fondly . The winners where judged on the all around capability of their products. Ranging from product innovation, packaging and marketing, right through to sustainability.
These awards really do highlight the driven and gifted individuals who understand what it takes to bring a product into the retail and food service market place. Even though the Australian and New Zealand food market is large, the quality of our products and manufacturing excellence is adored the whole world over. And it’s with this in mind, that myself and other manufacturers develop our products for not only Australian consumption, but for food and wine lovers the whole world over.
Before the guests were seated, we were all given the opportunity to sample other manufactures  products. The range, quality and presentation of all the products was amazing. A highlight of my evening was having the chance to meet and talk with Sarah Mandelson ,  CEO of Serendipity Natural  Ice Creams. Sarah’s company does an amazing job of supplying the food service industry in every state in Australia. With ‘ready to be plated’  ice cream stacks and spires, their products are not only a splendid ice creamy dessert but have a WOW factor that makes them the first choice for many restaurants and function Venues.
The winner of the dairy category, of which Lush Lemon Dessert was a finalist, was Jindi Deluxe Blue, a very worthy winner.  Also a finialist was the highly commended Trampolines, Orange and Poppy Seed gelato.
